Grids and Model Resolutions

What are the "gx1v3" and "gx3v5" resolutions?

gx1v3 and gx3v5 are the two horizontal grids shared by the CCSM ice and ocean components. The north pole has been displaced into Greenland for both of these grids. gx1v3 has the finer resolution of the two, with approximately one degree longitudinal resolution and variable latitudinal resolution that is finer near the equator (approximately 0.3 degrees). gx3v5 has a longitudinal resolution of 3.6 degrees and also has variable latitudinal resolution with finer resolution near the equator (approximately 0.9 degrees).

How can I get more help?

If you have a general question or one specific to CCSM, you can post it on the CCSM Help Bulletin Board. These questions will go to the CCSM Software Engineering Group (CSEG) first and then be parsed to the appropriate working group liaison. There is also a CCSM Support Page that has information on scripts and post-processing tools. For questions specific to CSIM, contact the CSIM liaison dbailey_at_ucar.edu
