2010 Workshop Announcement

NCAR's Climate and Global Dynamics Division is pleased to announce its 15th Annual CESM Workshop being held at Great Divide Lodge in Breckenridge, Colorado from 28 June - 1 July 2010. This year's workshop will be a combination of plenary presentations and special interest presentations by the CESM working groups. We hope you'll join us this summer in Breckenridge Registration is now open.

Poster Session

Due to a change in venue this year, there will be no poster session at this year's workshop. We sincerely regret this, but there is no dedicated room at the Great Divide Lodge to display the posters. We are exploring having a "virtual" poster session.

Travel Assistance

We have a limited number of funds to assist those who would not otherwise be able to attend the workshop. This includes ground transportation and lodging. Please request travel assistance in the on-line registration by registering in Phase I, which closes on 16 April 2010. Those who have requested travel assistance will be notified of their status by the end of April.

Location

The town of Breckenridge has a lot to offer - a beautiful mountain setting, variety of restaurants, shopping, golf, hiking, 4-wheeling, horseback riding, kayaking, hot air balloon rides, and several spas, to name just some of the highlights. We think you'll enjoy your free time.

The workshop will be held at the Great Divide Lodge. The majority of our sessions will be held in the Ballroom. Final locations will be available on the agenda closer to meeting time.

Lodging

Lodging will be provided by the Great Divide Lodge at Breckenridge. There is also the option to reserve at Mountain Thunder Lodge if you need more room. If you are paying your own expenses, you may call 888.400.9590 to make your reservation. Please reference Group Code 'BCNCA1' to receive conference pricing. If you have requested travel assistance, please do not make your own reservation. If you are awarded travel funds, your reservation will be made for you. Listed below are the room rates:

Participants who have requested travel assistance or whose travel is otherwise covered by CESM should not make airline reservations until you have received confirmation of your acceptance to the workshop by e-mail.

Ground Transportation

Most participants will fly into Denver International Airport on June 27 and fly out on July1. Ground transportation between DIA and the workshop site is available through Colorado Mountain Express. If you are paying your own expenses, you may call 800.525.6363 to make your reservation. Please reference Group Code 'CESM' to receive conference pricing. The fare from the airport to Breckenridge is $73.80 one way. If you have requested travel assistance, please do not make your own reservation. If you are awarded travel funds, your reservation will be made for you after you email your airline itinerary to Barbara Ballard.

Cancellations

Please let us know asap about cancellations. Registration fees cannot be refunded after 28 May 2010.

Miscellaneous

We are not able to provide interpreters for international participants. Some participants may wish to bring their families along. We will do our best to accommodate these requests. Any special needs may also be indicated during the registration process.
