CCSM1.4 Climatological Data Atmosphere Model

 

Introduction

This atmosphere model component interacts with the CSM Flux Coupler just like any atmosphere model would, but it is not an active model, rather, it takes atmosphere data from an input data file and sends it to the Coupler, ignoring any forcing data received from the Coupler. Typically the input data file contains mean monthly data generated by an active CSM atmosphere model. Such a "dummy" atmosphere model is useful when doing ocean + ice spinup runs.

Currently only one version is available publicly. The Flux Coupler and other component models (land, sea-ice, & ocean) must be supplied separately.

This version is functionally equivalent to any previous version used at NCAR. (released July 1998)
