CCSM3.0 IPCC vs. non-IPCC runs
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been established to assess scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. After CCSM3.0 simulation results are submitted to the IPCC, related input and output data will be made publicly available.
IPCC runs include:
- Time-varying concentrations of GHGs, including sinks from chemical reactions
- Prognostic sulfate, with time-varying emissions of SO2.
- Time-varying concentrations of carbonaceous species scaled by population and/or SO2 emissions
- Time-varying concentrations of stratospheric volcanic aerosol
- Time-varying solar constant
- Time-varying concentrations of tropospheric and stratospheric ozone
non-IPCC runs include:
- Prescribed concentrations of GHGs
- Prescribed concentrations of all aerosol species (sulfate, dust, carbon, sea-salt, and volcanics)
- Fixed solar constant
- Annually cyclic concentrations of ozone.
