CESM1.2: CAM Documentation
Introduction
-
Version 5.3 of the Community Atmosphere Model
(CAM) is the latest in a series of global
atmosphere models developed primarily at the
National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).
The notable improvements for CAM are now
detailed along with the improvements for all model components
in the section
What's
new in CESM1.2.0 - Science.
Development of the model was led by the Atmosphere Model Working Group
(AMWG). Development of the
Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model
(WACCM, a capability of CAM) was
led by the Whole Atmosphere Working Group (WAWG).
Development of CAM-Chem was led by the Chemistry Climate Working Group
(CCWG).

CAM Post-Processing Utilities
The CAM post-processing utilities are currently provided as a service to the community. The CAM diagnostic package can be accessed from the release code repository [registration required]. Basic documentation is provided on the CAM diagnostic package webpage.

Model and diagnostics support
CAM is fully supported for 1 degree and 2 degree finite volume simulations. Informal community support for all other model configurations and the diagnostic package is provided via the CCSM bulletin board. General questions should be submitted to this bulletin board; however, any bugs found in the model or diagnostic packages should be reported to the AMWG liaison.

Port Validation
A lightweight validation for CAM with the cam4 physics package. [port validation procedure]
