Interactions of Colossal Volcanic Eruptions and ENSO

In this project we will examine the relation, if any, between volcanic eruptions and patterns in ENSO. Paleo and observational studies suggest a significant relationship but no mechanism has been proposed. Here we will use the the large sample size afforded by the ensemble to probe the significance of the relationship and to explore if any mechanisms do exist.
