Exploring Climate Change and Variability in the Water and Energy Cycles using the CESM Large Ensemble

Co-Author: John Fasullo
This work will examine changes in the water and energy cycles using the large ensemble as a framework for understanding forced and internal climate variations. Aspects of so-called hiatus periods, as manifested in surface temperature, sea level rise, and the global energy imbalance, will be examined and related to observed variability in an effort to better understand the processes underlying related variability and provide insight into the observed record. A particular emphasis will be given to understanding regional drought and floods, and their relationship to global sea level.
