The role of forcing in driving the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation

Previous studies have shown that the AMO may be driven by external forcings such as GHG and aerosols. However, the prevailing view is that the AMOC drives the AMO. We are investigating the role of external radiative forcing in driving changes in the AMOC and AMO and their lead/lag correlation in the large ensemble experiments.
